From Diesel to Digital
Modern vehicles—especially EVs and Hybrids—sit at the intersection of IT, mechanics, and high-voltage engineering. I started Mid Coast EV because I realised that Mid North Coast drivers shouldn’t have to drive to Sydney or Newcastle to find a technician who truly understands the science behind their car.
My journey began in the heavy-vehicle sector at Busways. Working on passenger buses taught me that "good enough" isn't an option; vehicle maintenance must be proactive and precise. It was here that I was first exposed to the complexity of electric transit and the high-voltage training required to keep these systems safe.
The Engineering Edge
While working in the trade at Fortade Earthmoving, I noticed a market gap. Vehicles were becoming more like mobile computers, while the service industry lagged behind. To bridge that gap, I completed:
- A Dual Trade as a Mechanic and an Auto Electrician.
- A Cert IV in IT, specialising in programming (understanding the "code" that runs your car).
A Mechanical Engineering Degree (In progress), providing the high-level physics and systems knowledge needed for complex EV diagnostics.

I’m both a qualified technician and a lifelong student of engineering. I’ve seen firsthand how our coastal humidity and regional driving conditions stress high-voltage systems.
